The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary “Stella Maris” stands on the remains of an ancient building with a rectangular plan, stone façade, wooden main door and a three‑level bell tower; after the devastating flood of 1940 severely damaged it, Parish Priest Celestino Melis obtained approval for a restoration from the Provincial Office of Public Works, but the outbreak of World War II delayed the work until it was finally completed between 1947 and 1948.

Monsignor Lorenzo Basoli consecrated the church on June 3, 1953 alongside the parish priests of Lotzorai and Girasole and the vice‑parish priest of Tortolì, and on October 1, 1966 he officially elevated it to parish status; honoured as patroness of sailors and fishermen, Our Lady Stella Maris is celebrated every third Sunday of July with a three‑day festival that culminates in a spectacular sea procession, during which her statue is carried by boat into the harbour and a wreath of flowers is cast into the waters in memory of those lost at sea.
